This Month at WUTC

The dog days of summer are here, but things are anything but slow at WUTC. From listener meetups to exciting concert announcements, here’s what we’ve been up to — and what’s coming next.

Recent Broadcast Interruptions

You may have noticed some brief broadcast interruptions recently. That’s due to storm damage to one of our satellite receivers. Thankfully, our team was quick on the scene, and we’re working around the clock to keep things running smoothly. All repairs are expected to be completed this week. Read our full update here.

Listener Meetup at Yellow Racket Records

Thanks to everyone who joined us earlier this month at Yellow Racket Records! We had an incredible time spinning vinyl and catching up with listeners in one of our favorite record shops. It was our first listener meetup at Yellow Racket Records and it won’t be the last. Stay tuned for details on the next one soon!

WUTC is the Local Radio Partner for World of Bluegrass

WUTC is proud to be the local radio partner for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass. This weeklong celebration of bluegrass music, its artists, and fans happens September 16th–20th. Expect interviews, features, and wall-to-wall bluegrass as we count down to Bluegrass Live!, a two-day festival in downtown Chattanooga. Get your tickets here and join us for one of the biggest bluegrass gatherings in the world.

Honoring Richard Winham

This month also marks a bittersweet transition. Our friend, colleague, and longtime host Richard Winham officially retired in June after 38 years behind the mic. Saying goodbye is never easy, so over the next few months we're revisiting some of his most-loved playlists and archived shows. Every Friday morning, a WUTC host will guest host in his old time slot sharing stories, songs, and moments that made Richard’s show so special. Yes, you may still hear his voice from time to time, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

2x Grammy Winner Alan Broadbent to Play WUTC Benefit Concert in September

We’re thrilled to announce a special concert benefitting our station. Two-time Grammy-winning jazz pianist Alan Broadbent will perform a solo concert at UTC’s Hayes Concert Hall on Thursday, September 11th. From Diana Krall to Charlie Haden to Natalie Cole, Alan’s played with legends, and now you can see him up close! Presented by Ken and Nancy Dryden, all proceeds go directly to WUTC. Reserve your seats now.
