Enjoy Your Summer With WUTC

Dear Friends Of WUTC,

What an exciting summer so far at WUTC! Rob Beckett, our Assistant Station Manager, and I had the opportunity to fly to Washington, DC and visit NPR's headquarters. We toured their facility, networked with leaders from other public radio stations, discussed opportunities for our station - and came back inspired as our team continues to serve you.

We've also hosted two community gatherings. We love meeting and talking with you. Our thanks to Cherry St Tavern for hosting our fundraiser with The Banshees, Lew Card and Flavorless. Chattanooga has amazing music. Thanks to Shredders' Lair for hosting our coffee meetups. Come out and join us there for our next coffee meetup on Thursday, August 27th from 8 AM to 10 AM.

- Susan Lazenby, General Manager, WUTC

Echoes of Chattanooga's Past

For this year’s commemoration of America 250, WUTC is bringing you Echoes of Chattanooga's Past: poetic monologues crafted from oral histories of Chattanoogans born in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Interviews for the oral histories - archived at The Chattanooga Public Library’s Local History and Genealogy Department - were conducted by Norman Bradley, former editor of The Chattanooga Times, and his team.

Playwright Dr. Peggy Douglas of Southern Exposure Productions wrote the monologues, directed by Dr. Anne Swedberg of UTC - recorded and produced by Ray Bassett of Scenic Roots here at WUTC.

Our thanks to them and our partners: The Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial, ArtsBuild, Mark Making, Rhyme N' Chatt and The Chattanooga Public Library.

Tune in to Echoes of Chattanooga's Past during Morning Edition, Scenic Roots and All Things Considered on WUTC.

World Cup, CFC - And WUTC

As the Spanish National Team came to Chattanooga to train at The Baylor School during this year's World Cup, WUTC caught a few glimpses of the team in action.

Also, check out our From the Field interviews with members of Chattanooga Football Club at our new Sports section: wutc.org/sports.

Meet Clark Gibson!

Clark Gibson, our Production Director and one of our music hosts at WUTC, knows how music has shaped him.

"Music has deeply shaped my identity, even influencing the way I would dress and speak at an early age. Music even defined my aesthetic —wanting to look like the mysterious guitar player from Almost Famous, I always sported worn-out jeans and long hair."
